Wind power generators generate power from the wind so that they can create electricity. This is a great invention because it utilizes our natural resources which helps save the environment. The different designs that are available for the propellers will of course have different torque or speed power for the generator because of the fact that they are not all the same.
The designers’ main goal is to design a propeller that will perform at the highest capability and performance possible however still at a very cost effective price. Not only that however they must also be durable and they must get great amounts of energy from the wind.
Of course as already stated above different designs of propellers will have different interactions with the wind. The same techniques that they are using to investigate this, is the same techniques they are using to design cars, bridges, airplanes and even bridges. However they just have one difference propellers for wind generators would like to maximize the air current that they are receiving where as the rest would like to minimize the current.
The only way possible for scientists to figure out which models would be the best is for them to make different models and then calculate the amount of energy they are getting while only changing one of the variables at a time. Every design factor is a different variable. Different factors that they would include are the size, diameter, pitch, blade area, blade angle, weight, however there are also several more that they include.
Throughout time scientists have come a long way with the different designs that they have come up with, and I bet that the people 100 years ago would have never guessed that propeller designs for wind generators would be the way they are now. It would be interesting to see what the designs will be 100 years from now.
